I'm a professional escape artist and sideshow performer.
Unlike many escapologists who come from a magic background I started out as a juggler. This took me to the streets and it was here that I learnt my trade.
My first escape was from a straitjacket after I decided I needed a finale that was different from all the other jugglers who were working the same area as me. Most at that time (and in fact today) were doing fire torches whilst on a unicycle, I wanted to be different.
Over time the juggling took a back seat in the show and the number of escapes I performed steadily increased until eventually I only juggled for my own enjoyment.
I didn't start performing sideshow stunts until much later but they really fit with my style of "it's not a magic trick", because if you're sticking a nail up your nose or stuffing your hand in an animal trap it's not a magic trick.
That said, I do have a wide ranging magical library covering everything from close up with cards and coins to mentalism, manipulation and illusion. I like to know how things work and I love the way magicians are able to mask the real truth with something that looks simply impossible.
